Zero no Tsukaima – Princess no Rondo Halftime Report

Sweet! Halftime Report!

Well, I’ve got nothing much to say. Just some complaints, some shout-outs, probably something to clear out to that stupid Censorship-san (like, how does “GET THE FUCK OFF MY ECCHI SHOWS!” sound?). But yeah, I do have a few points to note.

I don’t really have complaints about JC Staff’s continued depiction of the anime, and how it’s striving hard to be as canon to the novel as possible. It’s just that sometimes, there are inconsistencies that leave me hanging. Such an example would have to be Derf using powers to escape into Westwood Forest with Saito.  In the novel, Derf controlled Saito’s body and moved it away from the battlefield, while in the anime, Derf simply teleported Saito into Tifa’s woods. Amazingly, it did work out for the series since there isn’t really anything wrong with the means, so I don’t know if this would count as a complaint or a compliment.

“Character Development” is always welcome.

The characters this time around are starting to develop, too. Kirche seducing the returning Colbert, is one thing (who knows what they did back there in Germania?), Henrietta developing feelings for Saito is another. (I’m smelling sex here). Siesta making moves on her new master is not new, but good enough too (and I smell sex here too). But Tabitha’s turncoat is the one that makes the story all the more progressive. In general, you can’t really call it fast-paced, but the way the story goes by the latter eps is starting to get a little bit interesting. Toss in Tifa, Sheffield, and the others, and you’ll have more fanservice and story than you’ll need.

Mmm… I’m so waiting for Sylphid’s ryu-musume form… Mmm…

So far, after around two or three episodes, the story progresses into the Gallia expedition. Of course, this is already much awaited, provided you’ve been reading the novels. I have no complaints on the storyline since it’s robust enough as to have a novel for reference. It’s just that… it’s already the ninth episode, and this would have to be something awkward, unless they’re trying to prepare for another season. Now I’m starting to find this show similar to Shakugan no Shana: It’s a novel getting too much seasons, and we all love it.

Also, the items and magic are quite a bit “perverted”. The return of the Love Potion was pretty much obvious, but surprising, and the Mirror of Truth is a standard given. The Ancient Magic Tifa uses, along with Louise’s Void Magic, would have to be a sight to behold if we are to see them work together. But if you were to ask me what item and magic is enticing…

Wait… wrong…

What I’m currently disappointed at right now is the lack of action. Season 2 was really much better than this, I tell you. Sheffield’s limited appearances look like diversions from the fanservice, and it seems a little too late for the Gallia expedition, so I’m troubled as to why they wasted too much episodes before they pull the gig off.

Orgasmic, only if we’re to see the “other” half.

I can’t compliment much on the fanservice, really. You know the main reason: It’s always the star of any fanservice genre, CENSORSHIP-SAN! Applause, applause! Thanks to him, the whole  TV series is screwed so much that you can almost puke out of disgust everytime you see a nearly blacked out screen on where Tifa’s boobs are supposed to be. If they were a bit creative like GONZO, it would’ve been forgivable, but no! It’s the same old trick being pulled whenever, wherever, over and over and over! And to think we’re getting a bit interesting on that part. Sucks for your cockblocks, no?

But let’s not judge the story by the inhibited perversions. It’s still got a lot to go if it were to follow the novel. I mean, A WHOLE LOT. The novel is getting quite long now, and for it to follow through the end would have to be a feat uncommon to be performed. I mean, the Shakugan no Shana anime series is nearly halfway done, novel-wise (even though I didn’t really follow the anime that much), and the same will go for this too. We’ll just have to see it out for the next four or five eps to see if this goes well.
