Zero no Tsukaima - Princess no Rondo 12: Wings of Freedom

IT’S PRINCESS NO RONDO’S FINAL EPISODE! Don’t be fooled, though. The title isn’t what you really think it is. Let’s just say it’s one savvy way to wrap things up.

With Tabitha suddenly rescued (without even a fight?!), the group heads back towards Tristain, where Gallian infulence cannot reach them. On the way Louise had a dream: She lost all her powers, and Tabitha’s trying to take the lead on Saito. Of course, dream or no, she’s stripped of her powers. That’s that.

Now, this is where Tabitha is successfully wooed. You can probably see why a lot of people who read the novels see the current season as a great development to the storyline. The entire season, albeit the introduction and recurrence of new and old characters, is focused on a focal point that will affect everyone’s lives, especially Saito’s, Louise’s, and now Tabitha’s. Too bad there wasn’t much Julius air time. I was waiting for him to intervene at whatever there is, too…

PimpSaito has aquired a Tabitha.

It was revealed that the Jormugand/Giant is actually a big armored whatever. As in BIG! Sheffield is able to exert direct control over it via her powers. It also seems to be able to utilize Ancient Magic as it was able to stop one of Tabitha’s javelins like the way Nephthys does. And because of its size, any amount of magic may not be that sufficient.

And its eye looks like a vagina…

That’s where Gandalfr comes in. For Saito to be able to pry open a closed hand that’s more than thrice his mass and size, Gandalfr’s got to be something. And not only that, he was able to use that “artifact” that Colbert brought in too. But I guess that one’s a given already.

Add in the situation where Louise is troubled by her feelings about Tabitha and Saito, and you’ve piled up a good set of problems. It seems that Louise is burdened by the fact that she wasn’t very useful on the mission. And because of the loss of powers, she thinks that Saito may only see her as a master again, not the usual Louise that Saito loves. In fact, she’s so engrossed on her own self-pity that she can’t even recognize the overall decline of her whole personality. And so, for a while, Louise of the Void dies, and Louise the Zero reawakens.

SOUL RESONANCE!!!

But it’s fine, anyways. Tabitha’s bait to lure Saito away from Louise worked, and Louise was able to cast Dispell on a fired artillery shell, killing the golem with a nicely placed shot to save the day. I must say I’m rather unimpressed, though. The sudden change in the mood kinda gets me off, the swings from slight comedy, to seriousness, to love. Though it may try to imply what the characters feel to the viewers, it’s done way too much, on so little time. It’s so confusing, and fast. But hey, what would I expect? They wasted so many precious episodes already, so there’s no turning back.

PEW PEW PEW!

Another artifact from the real world is revealed: an artillery gun, or more like a flak cannon, to be exact. It’s a World War II artillery gun. The German 88 Flak Cannon is usually used for anti-air defense against fighter planes, bomber planes, and paradrops. It doesn’t really pack up that much on power, but it’s sure to puncture a plane inside out once it hits.

Well, I guess this wraps today’s season. Bad guys still at large, new girl added to Saito’s harem, and guns. Lots of them. Hope the next season comes out quickly at like… winter… yeah…

I just want to clarify one thing, it is correct that the flak 88 wasn’t useful as it was meant to be (that is in shooting down airplanes, but when it was used as an anti-tank gun it proved to be of great value)

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/88_mm_gun

But anyhow the episode was an anti climax i expected more of it, as i was expecting an clifhanger in episode 12 and a season ending as episode 13

i hope there will be an season 4 : D
