Thunderforce VI News

Thunderforce VI finally gets its own Wikipedia entry months after making it official. It appears that they tried to continue the timeline from Thunderforce V, or is that true? I mean, take a hint on this excerpt of the RVR-00 Phoenix from the wiki:

The next generation trial production type general purpose fighter, created by scientists from the United Earth Fleet. Although its number is set before RVR-02 Vambrace, the Phoenix is more advanced than its predecessor, a multipurpose fighter that was put to the test against Orn forces. It can battle independantly without need for supporting forces, able to absorb energy from various attacks by Orn forces and perform CRAW macromolecule assist. Phoenix is originally built from the remains of an unidentified ship, however this information is kept top secret by the military.

Ship? or SHIPS? I mean, seriously, anybody who hasn’t heard of Broken Thunder should drop dead now. RVR-00 Phoenix has production designs of both RVR03G Bracer (A.K.A. Rarebrace) and FIRE-LEO05VC Syrex (A.K.A. Syrinx, but this name is also used officially for the first presumed release of TFVI, so they dropped it and took the current name instead)!

It’s the only picture of the RVR-00 Phoenix around…

From the picture’s point of perspective, let’s take a look at RVR-00 Phoenix’s wingspan. Most parts are from the Bracer’s and Syrex’s wingspans, the cannons from the former and the extended boosters from the latter. The shield on the left wing is probably from RVR-02B Brigandine, and the long Over Weapon cannon is possibly a variation of RVR-02 Vambrace‘s version. The wingspan length is derived from RVR-01 Gauntlet, while the lower supports are from Bracer. The overhead booster is from Bracer as well.

Now, the design isn’t really bad. I mean, it’s VERY GOOD! All the latest possible designs from the Earth side is jammed into one experimental starfighter (to which we’re yet to know the pilot, but may still possible that it’s Cenes Crawford…) that will own interstellar ass in the future years to come. The CRAWs used by the Phoenix are also revved up with the new Marcomolecule Assist. But if its design we’re talking about, RVR-02 Vambrace still gets my vote. You never get pure power and pure simplicity in one machine.

Rynex II: Classic comeback of a classic starfighter.

Next is Rynex II, or Rynex Improved Version. It’s the newer version of FIRE-LEO04 Rynex done by the Galaxy Federation peeps themselves. Albeit having a nerfed Thunder Sword Over Weapon, it had major improvements on other weapons, thus proving to be a formidable partner to the newcomer Phoenix. Plus, the designs ain’t half bad too. Though it still uses the classic CRAWs used by the original Rynex from Thunderforce IV, the weapon improvements seemed to prove that it’s oldschool, innovated. So much for the longest running starfighter in the Universe, huh…

As for the storyline, like I said, it’s continued NOT FROM THUNDERFORCE V, BUT FROM BROKEN THUNDER. That explains ship design alone, but the story is still inclined to continue from the events of Thunderforce V. Here’s the excerpt from the Wiki:

It is the year A.D. 2161, ten years after the artificial intelligence known as Guardian went rogue and its subsequent destruction at the hands of Cenes Crawford, the pilot from the events of Thunder Force V. As Earth reenters an age of prosperity after the previous war with the AI, an extraterrestrial force known only as “Orn Faust” appears to start an invasion of the planet. Unfortunately, the United Earth Fleet is powerless under the might of the alien forces and is almost destroyed. Meanwhile, the United Earth government receives strange readings from its analysis report of the underground chamber where Guardian was once installed. Inside, the Vasteel technology which was abandoned and sealed by the government shows a startling syncronization with Orn Faust’s approach.

As researchers analyze the once forbidden technology they had abandoned ten years ago, they find an alarming message embedded within the fragments. It is said that Vasteel was once Rynex, the ultimate weapon created by the extraterrestrial power called the Galaxy Federation, used to combat the evil Orn Empire. The message also contained a warning of their impending arrival and an interstellar call for help against the Orn forces, which is trying to spread its influence of death and destruction to other parts of the universe. In addition, the storage cells within Vasteel material contains four space coordinates leading to the homeworld of the Galaxy Federation. Left with no other choice, scientists recreate the Vasteel technology into the experimental starfighter known as Phoenix, the last hope for the human race against Orn Faust.

So we finally merge the three civilizations and see them pulverize each other. That’s an achievement. Aside from Earthlings having contact with not only one, but TWO extraterrestrial civilizations, they also get to meet the original creators of Vasteel, the Galaxy Federation. As for Broken Thunder’s Piece, it may be possible that the 13 Constellations (A.K.A. Rebellion Reproduction 03 Gemini), creators of the Syrex, plucked the broken Vambrace from the Solar System and reconstructed the ship, and possibly even the pilot. That only gives us more hope that Cenes Crawford will resurface as the new pilot for the Phoenix. I don’t see any relations between the Galaxy Federation and the 13 Constellations though, which may mean that 13 Constellations may be a new group altogether.

The game currently has two music samples, screenshots, and a gameplay video, all showcased in their Sega website. More information will come out of it, so if you’re a fan, be sure to watch out. As for my last words:

“I hope this ship blows up REAL GOOD.

- Cenes Crawford
