The chapter starts as we discover the person who lured Tsukune’s cousin, Kyouko. This establishes the full comeback of the art professor, Ishigami Hitomi, as Kyouko points her to be the culprit behind the Release Mirror’s current havoc on the school festival. Seems that she’s for more bitching about art, saying that destruction is the best art there is in the world. So much for that the oh-so-dramatic entrance…
Ishigami: DESTRUCTION = ART! ORLY?! YARLY?!
Ishigami then commands the Release Mirror to go flashbang on the group, revealing their true identities in the process. Tsukune was saved however, as Kurumu pushed her out of the way. That’s a good thing, as everyone knows what will happen when Tsukune’s ghoul nature goes out in the open.
Back to the flashbang part, everyone reverts back to their monster form as Ishigami escapes, noting on the secret behind Moka’s objective: Reverse Moka wants the mirror, badly! Tsukune tries to coax the others for a chase, only to be pinned down by the girls themselves. Then Bus Driver-san (and his oh-so-smexy composure) explains why: aside from revealing their true forms, it also reveals their true feelings, i.e. their “true self”, who yearns for their “true desire”. They’ll lose all resolve and understanding and just go for what they want, and in this case, Tsukune got HARD, CONCRETE PROOF.
HOLYFUCKINGSHIT!
Well, er, anyways, Reverse Moka tries to awaken them, motioning to leave. She bids a kind of farewell to Tsukune, saying she doesn’t need him anymore. Why? The power of the Release Mirror can bring out Reverse Moka anytime without the removing the rosary, and she can do this anytime it is needed. Of course, the other girls find it hard to believe that Reverse Moka is only using Tsukune as a tool. Or more like Reverse Moka is trying to separate herself to Tsukune before she falls for him.
Reverse Moka follows Ishigami, and they start to duel. Unknown to Reverse Moka, Ishigami has a new plan to make Reverse Moka hers. They fight on, and Reverse Moka is easily brought down. It seems that she’s more slower than usual, and the petrifying venom of Ishigami’s snakes are taking its toll faster. What’s going on?
The bitch at its finest!
It seems that the power of the Release Mirror is only temporary, and that majority of her powers are again being sealed by the rosary as time passes. Reverse Moka’s in a pinch, but does not give up, until Tsukune and the others drop in to rescue her and remove her rosario. Of course, Reverse Moka was mad at first, but when she realized she was wrong, she started to see Tsukune in a new light, as well as beating the hell out of Ishigami with her signature “KNOW YOUR FUCKING PLACE!” kick.
KICKBAN! HAHAHAHAHA!
And so the fight ends there, with the Board Chairman retrieving the Release Mirror while watching beside Bus Driver-san. This cleared me the suspicion that Bus Driver-san and the Board Chairman are one, since they’re both enigmatic characters. Kyouko then gets enlighented on why Youkai Academy is like this almost every day: the irregularity between monsters and man cannot be denied, and they cannot mix and form bonds well without certain consideration. This is why they have to lie, to themselves and to others, in order to maintain a certain effect of happiness, peace and order, even though they don’t know how long it will last.
That much already said what my say to the matter is. The Board Chairman picked his words well as to summarize the whole event in one fell swoop. Well, he did get it in a semi-analytical point of view, but this explanation bares out how certain people view the supernatural in a very simple way already. Most of the stories I encountered would have to deal with that, be it superheroes, otherworldly creatures, and such, and it’s an unavoidable decision to make, where the choice would have to affect on how the next set of events would fare. Of course there are times for lies, and there are times where we have to be honest to ourselves in order the best we have to be, but doesn’t that explain the our own nature in general as well? Doesn’t that also explain how we interact with each other? All I can say is, we have the power to choose, and the choice is done according to what we are, nothing else.
