To Aru Majutsu No Index 3: Necessarius
So, another magic trick pulled out of the mage’s hat, I guess. INDEX having the lead for something so grand an Angelic Healing Spell, Komoe-sensei sure is in trouble!
Without any clue, Komoe tries to tend to Index, but INDEX promptly tells her what to do since there isn’t really much time left. After preparing the magic circle and activating John’s Pen so she can use magic, she asks Komoe-sensei’s cooperation for the spell.
Anybody who can provide translations on what’s on the table?
Again, the use for placeholders is given importance. Aside from the mainstay use of blood for a magic circle (which some people find macabre, but not for me), certain items and locations inside the room are given a placeholder. Clips, memory cards, paperweights, toys, erasers and such, are used to represent beer cans, closets, tables, and people. Also, by means of magic, any changes on the placeholders also affects the items they represent. This is shown again when Index’s placeholder had changes after the healing spell.
Toma was pretty much depressing that every time he tries to do something, his right hand would be a major letdown. It would prevent him from using magic, it would make him encounter insane magi who play with fire, his unluckiness would affect his means of finding a cure for Index, and Imagine Breaker would definitely nullify Index and Komoe’s healing magic if he were to stay there. But hey, Toma. You got it where it counts. That’s what mattered.
HALLELUJAH!
The transition process of “making an Angel” kinda gets me off as it differed from material to material, albeit there are still similarities I can point out. The anime also featured an “interruption” on the incantation, like suddenly moving the table, losing concentration on the Angel transformation process, etc. I guess they tried to emphasize on the methods of magic too much to be able to discern the trivialities. Or maybe they just have too much time to waste on the episode thinking they should just wrap it up and let people see Index up and running again.
My, what big shiny teeth you have!
Index then starts to worry about Toma’s current situation now that he’s getting preoccupied with taking care of his patient. Well, Toma’s not really concerned about it, or more like he’s avoiding the question since he’s got so much mishap to tell that it might take more than a week to finish it. And he’s level 0 jock too, so what’s the use for school? But you shouldn’t make a hungry glutton of a nun worried too much, or you’ll end up with major bite marks everywhere.
Shit! Fuuzetsu?!
Nevertheless, Index gets healed, John’s Pen gets deactivated, INDEX goes back to sleep, and it seemed like everything’s back to that we-finally-made-it-past-the-ordeal kind of thing. Then Kaori Kanzaki enters the picture as the episode ends. Well, I’d rather that they made the battle go on till the middle before they cut it, but they wasted too much time on healing Index that they just introduced Kaori and left it. Now that leaves people scourging for material on what happens next, instead of just expecting something climactic the next episode. Kinda disappointing on that, yeah.
Well, guess we should just move on to the next episode then.
