Lost in Interface

Biting more than what you can chew.

After two months, I log in, auto-update my WordPress installation, and then WHAM! I get a smörgåsbord of slow loading items, a new interface, and all other things that I don’t really know what they are on where they went during when. It’s like getting getting a boot in the behind while thinking of a way to get out of a pool of quicksand. Innovation, anyone?

First, the color scheme shift. Less blue, more black and gray. Kind of generic compared to the old circulation where every color gets its own way. A lot of stuff changed here and there. The old tab-style main interface gets moved to its own window to the left (a reaaaaaaaaaaaaally smaaaaaaaaaaaal window to the left), while some of the posting options get moved on the right. News and updates got a bigger window, so much for advertising, especially on the news part. The stats summary got moved to the lowermost part, which is something that annoys me when I check stuff. Uploading system got simpler (maybe because the Flash Uploader’s going haywire with all the stuff?), and it seems that there’s so much stuff that some of it isn’t shown, and you have to change your Screen Options to view stuff you want. INNOVATION, ANYONE?!

If there’s anything I should be happy about, that would be Quickpress. I’ve yet to use it, but it seems that you don’t have to load another window just to be able to write a post. I think it’s limited to posts as of the moment, so I smell improvements pending. Not bad, I can say. Anyways, the whole gamut change may not be that anticipated, but I can manage. Not that it can kill, but it can annoy.
