Another futile attempt for Touhou anime? I think not. Old post may be old, though.
Well, I’ll be. Just when I said I wouldn’t do episodic blogging, lots of interesting stuff pop out. FuyuComi may not have that much riches, but at least it offered some pretty decent (or semi-decent) stuff. This is one of them. Limited Edition comes with Soundtrack, Artbook, and Postcard Set. But if you just want to settle with watching it, then get the subs. Just a reminder, though: The DVD itself IS subbed, so if you thought you shouldn’t get the legit stuff, think again.

Something’s missing in here…
As far as story goes, here’s the deal: Reimu prepares for the Hakurei Shrine Festival, but suddenly finds her donation box missing. Missing? More like stolen. Of course, this doesn’t escape the eye of our nosy paparazzi Aya, who quickly concludes the festival cancelled while they continue the search for the missing box. However, it seems that Reimu’s not the only victim. Scarlet Devil Mansion’s losing some of their stuff too. Their tea and food reserves, and some of Patchouli’s books, all gone in one night. All hell breaks loose when Reimu declares Patchouli as the thief and starts a fight in her library, but she gets stopped by Sakuya and Remilia just in time to clear things up. Just before the episode ends, Reimu acknowledges the newly hatched incident.

Something you don’t see on Reimu’s shrine: A storeroom. And it’s neatly done too.
I won’t say anything bad about the quality here. They littered memes, the background art is way too cool, it had good frame pacing, and the fights are done in style (it was damn short, though). Still needs some work on movement, but it’s simply good overall. I may see a lot of possible improvements (especially on the art, and the shadowing, the latter you’ll see why), but this is definitely better than the first attempt (of another studio, which was EPIC FAIL). It’s going to be a sin to ask any more, but we should ask for it anyway.

EVEN GENSOKYO HAS WIKIPEDIA!
But the cast! The all-star seiyuu cast! Check out the crew!:
Hakurei Reimu: Mai Nakahara
Kirisame Marisa: Sawashiro Miyuki
Shameimaru Aya: Fujimura Ayumi
Patchouli Knowledge: Takahashi Mikako
Izayoi Sakuya: Tanaka Rie
Remilia Scarlet: Tsuji Ayumi
Ibuki Suika: Toyosaki Aki
Narration: Inoue Kikuko
Now, here’s the thing: Don’t expect them to sound like you thought they would. Well, okay, a few of them did sound like I thought they would, but I think the most striking would have to be Tanaka Rie’s rendition of Sakuya. Sawashiro Miyuki had a tinge of her Milfie voice while trying to maintain a low tone for Marisa (which is sad since a lot of people like her in a high-pitched, enthusiastic tone). Tsuji Ayumi used her voice when she played as Beatrice in Zero no Tsukaima. Takahashi Mikako tried a new approach, since I don’t recognize her voicing from when she did Kasumi Tani from Hand Maid May, but I found a little preference leaning to what she used as Montmorency from Zero no Tsukaima. I presume they played it using their original voices? Too bad China only had snoring noises and a few seconds of air time.
The story also had an interesting approach. This may even lead to new character introductions. But hey, it’s Gensokyo! Even the moon gets stolen! This fares less than that! And if we’re talking about theft, there’s no way they can miss Alice’s Precious Thing.
The second episode is currently under works. MAIKAZE may have anticipated this, knowing that this is the best anime rendition of the game as of the moment. However, it may not come soon enough, since it doesn’t even have a title yet. But knowing they hinted it out, it should be certain they would fire another round. Greatly anticipated. I’d love it.

There’s a MAGIC DICK in here waiting to be discovered…
No magic dick anywhere in this realm…
Sakuya is the upgraded Maria as the T Rie maid.
Seriously, it’s at 05:50. Check out that frame, and take a close look at Reimu’s shadow.
Actually, it’s the last pic of the post. If you can’t figure it out, sucks for you.
