‘Tis not like the title would come for you like this…
Yours truly is now officially out of content to watch, play, or read. Of course, there’s a lot in store, given the new titles of the incoming season, as well as the titles that left a mark of their own in the past. Now, I see myself as a pure, white, unsullied canvas, waiting for a masterpiece to be painted upon me and my body. And oh, wouldn’t that be grand?
For one, I am a person who values and enjoys other people’s opinion before even considering my own. It’s because I don’t have that much confidence on my preferences, which makes me random and unpredictable to the point that I don’t even know the reason why I’m watching, playing, or reading a title. And interest-wise, I am one who quickly loses it to the point of following a title that is already worth giving up by most people’s standards. Do you remember RAGEQUIT? I do. Vividly.
Apparently, most of us find the incoming season’s potency to generate audience a bit… questionable…
That being said, it sometimes takes me time to actually realize the what, why, when, and how of an item of choosing, plucking it from the vineyard of franchises that are ripe for the picking. Actually, the plucking itself is the most important, now that I think of it. How can you tell that it is ripe for the picking? How sure are you that you want to pluck it? Is the aftertaste of its observation and dissection worth it? Back then, I picked titles on a whim. Now, I think I should put some things into consideration.
Now, it’s not that I judge and limit myself and what I want according to criteria. It’s just that it’s not going to feel right if I were to try to convey my feelings about the show, game, or book to myself, and most especially to others. You can call it a responsibility, especially if there’s an obligation to write and publish about something that piqued your interests. A lot of people I know have given importance to this. Now its importance bares itself to me, in a very enlightening way.
I guess I’m still a babe in the woods, or maybe not. I may pass the time, but I still have a lot to learn, indeed. Fandom is one thing, blogging about fandom is another. So, I guess it’s about time to pluck a title from the vineyard again? That’s a good start.
The Next Incidents Of My Gensokyo
Anime:
- Mahoromatic (my days aren’t numbered yet, but I got a feeling that I need to cop a feel for the feeling before they are)
- Eureka 7 (ghostlightning’s second best title, I can’t leave this out)
- Mobile Suit Gundam: Char’s Counterattack (my “Gateway Gundam”, so to speak)
- To Aru Kagaku No Railgun (I watched Index, Biribiri’s next)
- Nogizaka Haruka No Himitsu: Purezza (kurogane’s fault, or I could just hide it under the excuse of “further undstanding love and otakuism”)
- Kara no Kyokai (still ongoing…)
- Lupin VS. Detective Conan (something I was hoping to watch in the past)
Manga:
- Mahoromatic (the anime’s canon material, with lacking volumes on my vicinity to boot)
- Saki (I heard the ausumness was better here than on the anime)
- Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind (ghostlightning’s recommendation)
Novel:
- Kara no Kyokai (something I forgot to read, and will be read for further understanding of the franchise)
- Fate/Zero (Owen and Xephfyre’s TYPE-MOON recommendation)
- DDD (another recommendation from the aforementioned)
- Char’s Counterattack: Beltorchika’s Children (the true Char’s Counterattack, that’s what people say, so it’s a must for my “Gateway Gundam”)
Games:
- Melty Blood: Actress Again (waiting to get my copy…)
- Fate/Extra (to be released, and I’m getting a copy…)
- Touhou Hisoutenki (no… it’s not because of Cirnoday… no…)
How about you? How do you do your anime/manga/novels/games?

Roadblocks ahead! What may happen after picking a title:

.. Come to think of it, I only pick stuff up at random.
Bite first, pluck later. Something like that I guess. =w=
Are you one that enjoys shows more than you appreciate them according to important factors like plot? If so, then there’s nothing wrong with it, is there?
I’m more in the enjoyment for now. Factors like plot and the like are too heavy for me to digest. orz
Well, there are people who watch merely for enjoyment, and there are people who watch for appreciation, in which enjoyment comes afterward the appreciation. It’s not as intelligent as you think, though.
