Negima Chapter 215: Begin! Operation Return-to-the-Real-World!!!

Since I’m implementing RC-ish type of synopsis on the anime ep reviews, I figured out that I should try doing so in manga as well.

This clearly is another filler-upper for information of what’s to come. More like this is getting to be an Akamatsu habit: more talk, less action. Negi lies to Asuna about the hidden memories sealed on her. Of course Asuna is concerned, but Negi tells her to shrug it off since it’s just “a disease that affects people in Ostia”. Rakan then butts in accidentally poking Asuna’s boobs (which is an Akamatsu classic, but highly overused, so fuck, what gives), and ends up getting punched in the face and left to die falling from high ground (which didn’t happen so since Rakan isn’t that weak of a bastard, which questions if Rakan somehow put on a magic barrier but got destroyed by the anti-magic capabilities of Asuna). Anyways, Rakan and Negi then meets with the rest of the crew, and starts to assess with them the current situation for the Ala Alba group. Of course, Rakan bargains help with a price (money of course, like the greedy fucking bastard he is), and tells them that during the plans they’re going to pull off, the most dangerous but with utmost priority is the exit gate on the Ostia ruins below, and how they’re going to cope up if in case Fate Averruncus intervenes. Rakan points out Fate’s relation to the Ala Rubra, and his possible threat to Ala Alba’s reunion and escape to the real world. Nevertheless, Negi assigns Kaede and Setsuna to patrol and check the perimeter below.

Meanwhile, Fate and Tsukuyomi have plans on their onwn during the Ostia festival, as they have seen that the participating countries all over the magic world have sent their representatives to secure the festival… or destroy it. This proves that the festival is just a farce, a lie, a weak but long-lasting truce of all the countries before Ala Rubra kicked their asses. Fate summons his ministra magi for the final mission in Ostia, while Ala Alba make the moves they set.

This is going to be one hell of a ride… hopefully for me…

Anyways, my say is this: stop the fucking fillers and let the story roll more like it should be. Filler-uppers won’t help that much but to just bore readers with the blablabla about the task at hand. People want action, and I ain’t seeing it in this one. Fanservice is poorly pulled out in here (Rakan’s feat being the only one) too. But it does open up some things in the past that may have cleared what happened to Ala Rubra in the past. Asuna may have been an important icon in the magic world due to her magic cancelling abilities, and she may have been used to stop apocalypse and annihilation from initiating in the magic world. Moreover, it looks like the exit gate would be the most very important thing in this arc, considering Fate really is going to blow the magic world to bits. The gate would be the exit point of EVERYONE in the magic world, with a destination probably going to be screwed up so that another arc would begin. Then again, this is just a hunch, and Fate has proven himself to be a very cunning bastard lest he tries to do something to Negi and company, or escape again to plan something more devious like that bitchy but lovely loli Evangeline. And I say all hands favor Eva more than him, haha.

I remember someone saying that these chapters are meant to be read as a volume. I’m sure you wouldn’t find it as bad if you read them like that.

For Ken Akamatsu, continue the story faster.
Because, I am very impatiently to read the next story
