Kara no Kyokai – Garden of Sinners Movie 3: Remaining Sense of Pain

So late for this one, but what the heck. Neco-Arc and 1UP cameos plus F/SN chibi goodness. Add in Toko lulz and it got me laughing maniacally. HEE HEE HEE HEE HEE HEE HEE HEE HEE HEE !

“Warning: Cigarette Smoking Is Dangerous For Your Living Bloodbath Of A Sister.”

We stray from the plot of Ryogi Shiki’s past, and move on to another case, where I was surprised to see titties and sex before the actual information about the case was laid out. The case is about the killer who mangles the victim’s bodies into unrecognizable shapes, with twisted arms, legs bending in an odd direction or way, and decapitated heads as if it was twisted off like a screw. Of course, whoever did this wasn’t normal to begin with.

Some scenes are not for the faint of heart. Not for me though, no. Then again, the gore wasn’t implied that much, as Shiki killing her arm or stabbing Fujino wasn’t shown.

I’m going to jump a bit on details since such an interesting storyline really tempts me to be wordy, thus I might label this as tl;dr if I lost it. We find out that the culprit is Asagami Fujino (related to the Asagami All-Girls Private High School that Tohno Akiha of Tsukihime fame attends to, but there is no implications whatsoever, though), who, according to one of her assaulters, Minato Keita, was raped and violated. That alone may be grounds for revenge, but something’s wrong. Keita says that Fujino didn’t feel anything when she was being done. Like being numb, or having late reactions. But when Kokuto saw her after the incident wherein she killed her assaulters, she said she was in deep pain. What happened?

I know it’s titties, but anybody who gets on with this is one sick fuck. That’s a given.

The more our characters dig in the case, the more they find out about Asagami’s anomaly. It seems that she was able to bend things as long as she can see them. Her father, afraid of this power, used drugs to suppress it, only to suppress the feeling of pain as well. That explains her being “numb” or “insensitive to pain”, as Kokuto implied. So what happened when the incident of the killings took place? Toko told Kokuto that Keita, who was under hypnosis while asleep, confessed that the last sexual assault that Fujino recieved had one of her assaulters about to stab her. But her sense of pain was back by that time, and the powers were unleashed. Fujino might have mistook it to her being stabbed, even though what really happened was her killing the guy that was about to kill her.

I’m in your Aston Martin, driving your Jaguar.

However, the pain wasn’t from that. Toko investigated about the case as well, and Fujino’s recent doctor said that she was having a fatal case of appendicitis, hence the feeling of being stabbed in the stomach. Fujino’s father was Toko’s client, and the client wants her dead, for the daughter of the Asagami was dead before she was born. Such a wretched father, shunning everything else for the sake of a saving face. It’s sickening to the core.

Actions speak louder than words, but not in this case.

Shiki and Fujino face off at the bridge, unleashing both their eyes as they battled. Shiki lost her arm in the process, and the bridge was destroyed thanks to Fujino’s uncanny powers. In the end, the only matter to be settled was acceptance, even from someone who prefers to incur the ire of someone that is her own kind. With that, the battle ends with Shiki killing the disease plaguing Asagami, ending the ordeal.

Well, what do you know! It did get wordy. So much for artistic investigation, laying down the facts was fun. There wasn’t any psychological play to begin with since there was the display of concrete facts, and the sense of the supernatural was only limited to the living, physical matter and the limits of how humans percieve things. Things such as solace from pain isn’t that rare anymore, nor is the murderous intent for a loved one. It doesn’t even need a reason, IT JUST HAPPENS. I’m afraid that applies to me as well.

Lastly, Mamiko Noto overload. She’s frikkin everwhere, I fukken swear.

  • Reading the original chapter (chapter 3) affected me alot, it was a very disturbing chapter.
Fujino is also my favorite Rakkyo character. So this movie is my favorite so far. Great ending, lots of emotions (both sad and relieving).

Facts are good. Makes less confusion. Gives nice intrigue.

One thing I’ve pointed out again and again. Was how this movie really brought out alot of life that original chapter didn’t have. The scene with Shiki, Azaka, and Fujino is bleak in the novel. But the movie made it have some very nice energy.

  • The tube and the paper are contrasting enough for you to prove that. Then again, some points weren’t also elaborated that much on the movie. It’s a movie after all, so I expect some points removed or revised according to how it’s going to be aired. Take the tits for instance.
