So much for getting backlogs again, but bah, what the heck. We’re already halfway through the Strike Witches series anyways, so I think this is where we go smooth cruisin’…
Or so I think…
In Soviet Russia, Sanya is your God.
I didn’t expect Sanya V. Litvyak’s story out so soon. More like I prefer shy personas introduced last than introduced somewhere else. Eila Ilmatar Jutilainen was an added value service for the episode as well.
The episode starts at night, which is obvious since we’re talking about Sanya here. It seems that the various governments and unions are trying to temper the squadron down with more policies and budget cuts and all that stupid rules and laws and shit. That’s predictable. Any nation wouldn’t want another nation to get so powerful enough even at this point in time. This proves that they’re trying to level each nation down into equal terms, at least until they finish this Neuroi gig. After that, well, it’s about time they whack each other’s brains out… AGAIN.
To ask for Strike Witch yurisex: Stick a tongue out. If they answer with their own, then you’re on.
More from Censorship-san, which anticipated the still repetitive UV censors with a new one: plant censors. Well, that’s a change alright. Good enough to keep me amused, if not for using THE SAME SOLAR GIG FOR THREE TIMES ALREADY. Seriously, this is getting me annoyed. Good thing Franchesca moe is still there, with more Perinne tsundere. The antics keep me busy enough for me not to notice that much, and the fanservice is so normal it’s like taking a walk in a park without anything on, and you won’t get anyone staring right back at you, nor would you care if anybody did. Eila’s foray was also good. Her yuridere (yuri for being lesbian for Sanya, dere for being nuts for Sanya) along with her boyish way of speaking finds something hitting straight home, if I speak for myself.
Maaaaahvelously envious, Yoshika. You get to see what we don’t.
Again, Neuroi battle was short as shit. around a minute or two, perhaps? It was too short to even consider writing for this ep anyway, what the heck. I may be a fan for night dogfights, but seriously, it didn’t even take too much action. Pity the governments who buy the wasted ammo. No wonder they were talking about budget cuts. They sit up there getting their lucky fucking asses safe every single day while the squadron expends their precious war resources. Sucks for politics, eh?
Guys, you know what to do.
Alright! Gun junkie corner! Eila used an MG42 machine gun on the Neuroi dogfight. It’s a type of gun that fires at a very high rate, ranging from around 700 to 1200 shots per minute depending on bolt action. It’s one type you’d usually use to hit large targets, to which accuracy won’t really matter much since you’d be firing way too much rounds to care. Very effective for anti-air and air-to-air battles. Surprisingly, it surpasses the MG151 machine guns that Trude uses with a superior muzzle velocity of 800 meters per second (though Trude dual wields hers weapons, having two guns with both 750 meters per second for a total of 1500 meters per second muzzle velocity) to which it packs more punch when combined with the high firing rate. Sanya, on the other hand, has her mainstay Fliegerhummer, a conceptual weapon based on the German Fliegerfaust. Fitting, since her Striker is also a concept from two actual planes (the MiG60 is a fictional plane combining features of the MiG-1, MiG-3, and Yakovlev Yak-1). The Fliegerfaust, also called Luftfaust, is a portable non-guided multi-barelled rocket launcher. Perfect ground-to-air and air defense weapon, though it’s a first to see it for air-to-air (well, Fliegerhummer is a conceptual weapon anyways). The first batches were created to fire only up to four rounds, from which it was upgraded with additional 5 barrels, totalling the load to 9 rounds. The gun Yoshika has which was used by Sanya was the 13mm Type 99 machine gun, which is on average rating compared to the guns I mentioned in the past. It has the muzzle velocity of 715 meters per second, with a good firing rate of 750 to 900 rounds per minute. Bayonet attachable, too. However, it’s designed to be a light type of machine gun, so the normal 11mm type used 30-round cartridges. I don’t know if there’s a direct feed type for the 13mm type, though.
