Whew, getting back on track now. So much for the sudden leap of chapters for Index, manga-wise, though it didn’t really leap as far as Toradora did. I don’t like Styl taking the spotlight that long anyway.
Seriously, the fight this time around was a bit intense, yet also a bit strange, maybe because of me getting estranged on the means of magic. But hey, it’s quite good. There’s still incantations, and the powers wielded are kinda impressive compared to the elementalists on the esper side. Aside from level 5 railguns by Misaka Mikoto, I haven’t seen anybody else wield a powerful 3000 degree Celsius flame like Styl did.
Where’s Airman where you need him?
I know I do Negima for keeps, but to be frank, I don’t know what runic whatevers work for the series’ magic. It seems that there is always a need for “placeholders” in order to meet the requirements needed for magic to manifest. Examples would be Styl’s “runes” for Innocentius and fire magic, and Index’s Angelic Spell of Healing (which will be discussed later on to prevent spoilers for those late ones). Now, there’s still the usual incantations to call out the powers of the magic spell/s in question, but having placeholders kinda makes it unique as to identify a certain spell’s effectivity. This shows up when Toma leaps from his apartment and Innocentius didn’t chase him because the runes didn’t go far from floor where his room is.
There’s also a fine line distinguishing espers from mages. Mages can’t use psychic abilities, while espers can’t use magic. One trying for the other would result in major brain damage or a coma. Meanwhile, level 0, or normal human beings unaltered for psychic means or not knowledgeable in extensive magic would be able to use either ability ONCE. Another try would fry their brains as well.
Shatter magical flames like ice! HOW GODMOD CAN YOU GET?
