Menthos At 400 Dollars A Piece

Guess I’ll be in the red again…

The recent Wall Street fiasco’s turning the economy tables upside-down, one by one, country by country. I’m not surprised. The way money goes these days isn’t really something to be amused with, anyway. Tell me a good way to make sure my money’s good as gold and I’ll pay you a million bucks. Then again, that would be economical stupidity on my part.

I’m not really that much of an analyst, but if I were to base it on what I see, we’re getting the brunt of our own stupid tactics. Companies are starting to fail as they have lesser and lesser options to choose with regards to the state of the economy. Money and property are starting to lose value, even if you have plenty of both. Using them would have to take excessive planning and implementation in order to get satisfying results, or lose both altogether as consequence. Sometimes, you’ll just end up thinking to yourself on what to believe, and end up buying candy that’s may be worth too much than what you can chew.

In my opinion, the so-called “bad guys” here would have to be either the State, or the big firms. The State would deregulate money, produce useless laws as excuse to implementing more taxes, or just control any essential company or firm to extort more money. The big firms, on the other hand, would either abuse manpower, evade taxes, and the most common (especially on oil), abuse the market itself. That’s why we end up paying more than what we need for what we need, and that is one big piece of bullshit.

But karma sometimes strikes, and sometimes it strikes HARD. Companies eventually fall when they thought abusing manpower would garner them better results. The next thing they know, they’ll be sitting ducks, pondering to themselves what happened while their precious little business goes down in shambles. Others, for the fear of the previously mentioned tactic, would resort to the opposite: They would treasure their employees so much, they wouldn’t even know if the employees’ are turning coat. You get a good worker, someone pays a lot better than you do, worker then leaves you. Or you can get a good worker, spoil it with so much incentives, and then BOOM, he goes rotten. He’ll be overpaid, underworked, and he can even go all-out like a wrecking ball when your unsuspecting little back is turned. You’ll lose good hopefuls, good money, and a lot of value for it. Then again, I’m a victim of the latter experience, so I can’t say what hellish whatevers may await me if I delve more in the matter.

The most affected business would have to be banks and insurance firms. They get to value the cash like it’s their lifeline. Or more like it IS their lifeline. A client’s dollar would be worth two hundred dollars for the businesses, and every withdrawal would mean minus cash, minus total revenue. And with the current economy going down like a full-blown landslide? More money lost, more possibility for bankruptcy, more economy degradation, BIG-TIME INFLATION!

I don’t trust banks much. I prefer to keep my own green under my bed or something. I need not worry about paying for my kept cash, or forcing myself to deposit more for the sake of it. Banks are SERIOUS BUSINESSES, so a simpleton such as myself wouldn’t even mind taking risks more than what I need to keep my own money. Screw time deposits, screw money incentives, screw loans, screw everything. I don’t need them.

So what’s the whole point of me talking senseless and utterly useless shit about the economy? Well, I’m living an “under average” type of lifestyle, so to speak. I may have my hobbies, but these are where my money is going, more than what I must spend on necessities like food. It’s a viable ground to complain to this useless world of corrupt filth. It’s enough reason to complain, and stopping would mean you’ve turned numb on this abusive reality, or you just snapped. I think I’ll take the latter option now, thank you.

Menthos, anyone?

Resonance Cascade: Time To Grab That Crowbar

Take one. You’ll need it.

So, everyone’s having a fuss about how the Large Hadron Collider could DEFINITELY destroy the world. Some say it would give birth to a black hole that would suck in Earth and every little piece of outer space dune. Some say something about particle haywire, with everything going KABOOM. But the most notable, of course, would have to be Gordon Freeman’s case: Resonance Cascade.

Rumors have been going that Freeman is already in the premises, trying to be as minimal as possible in order to get everything set in case this disaster goes out of control a la Black Mesa deja vu style, which may go with weather reports on Headcrab rainfall coming in after a few seconds of EPIC PARTICEL PHAIL. However, there are also news about the G-Man getting in his way as well. Assurance of Resonance Cascade? More Xen shit? Battle with the Combine? GRAVITY GUN MADNESS?! We better pray that little crowbar gets in time.

And Barney still owes Freeman a beer, too.

Finally, A “Schedule”

More preparations for EPIC BATTLE, perhaps?

I’ve put up a schedule page to keep myself in check on my blog posts. Hopefully this will reduce backlogs, and secure me a little bit of time for myself.

Suddenly, out of nowhere, I thought I should visit a certain Arrow Duck’s website. When I checked out his schedule page, and saw how he was “organized” in his posts, I thought maybe I should do the same thing. Not that it’s really bad for a sudden change of format, but it should work.

So I’m posting a monthly schedule. Why not a daily one, Shance? Well, my my me, it’s not we’re always up there for the task, so setting individual posts on certain days would have to be really troublesome. Besides, there are some posts that only come out when the show gets aired, or if the game comes out, or if I’m certain I’m going to post some sketch or webcomic. So basically, I’m “generalizing” the stuffs, which would hopefully sync up everything at the very least. Not that you cared anyway, so scram.

Preparing for EPIC WEBCOMIC BATTLE

Pit stop before race.

Do you guys see pixelated pictures instead of the usual crisp ones? Basically, I’m using Full Mode on my pictures, and it displayed on my end just fine. However, when I tried to view the site on another computer, it adjusted itself to what looked like pixelated crap.

I’m currently asking this since I’m having thoughts about using Full Mode now. Moreover, since the webcomic is going to start by this week (hopefully…?), I want it to go as smoothly as possible. No errors, no resolution crap, no pixelated whatevers.

I’m putting up a poll to see if I’m the only one having the problems. If you have any suggestions, replying on this post is fine.

Thanks!

Oblivion, Organization

Heaven amidst Hell.

It seems that in the past few days, I can’t even pick myself up. I mean, there’s a lot to do, a lot to accomplish, a lot to finish, and a lot to keep on doing. I dunno, I don’t feel like I need to write something, even though the episodes I need to watch, the chapters I need to read, the drawings I need to fabricate out of thin air, the posts I need to write, and the games I need to play, are ever increasing in number.

I don’t have any writer’s block or anything. I can actually write something even though I’m lazy enough not to strive writing straight English without a good typo or grammar error. Who gives a shit about English anyway? Ask AMERIKKA about that, not me.

So I thought: Should I organize myself? Time management? Scheduling? Synchronizing? Right. Do we even need that kind of shit around here? To be frank, maybe yes. Sometimes, I may be too occupied that five days pass by and an episode remains untouched. Then, on some other instances, I would be too occupied minimizing my anime backlogs that I forget about my doujin circle’s deadline. You can’t fit everything into place, and it gets worse by the minute.

Or maybe I’m just overworking myself, or something like that. I mean, find a person who can do all of these and still post up something meaningful for at least more than twice a day, and I’ll kneel to God and ask for forgiveness for being such a lazy ass. Well, in my case, it doesn’t even have to be meaningful, does it?

I like how my pace works. But right now, I’m having the half-assed feeling that I may be overdoing the pace. So maybe, I’ll have to devise a schedule for myself in order to have a rather “systematic” way to do things. Time efficient, clutter-free, quick, and it beats the lazy hell out of me. Time permitting, I would be able to pull this off without worries…

… Or get a Lunar Dial and do ZA WARUDO instead.

Works Page Up!

I’ve added my Works page just to keep you intact with the endeavors that I do for the sake of art. Not that you care anyways. So much for that shit, but hey, I can even put it up if Wong permits me to, doujin circle-wise. And with Another Dream Issue 4 just days away from completion, it will be another addition to the page, since I’m participating this time around for the literary portion of the doujin circle’s next release.

I’ll try to update more works as soon as I feel like it. I’ve added an available and finished work on the page itself, which is Another Dream Issue 2. However, like I said, no downloads yet. You’ll have to wait for a few more days for that. Boo for you.

The Truth Behind The “O” Word

Justice for the word.

In response to a space bunny’s failpost (really, you lost me dude), I think it’s about time we clear things up according to more than just looking at the letters.

“Otakuism”. You know the word. And if you do, you know what you can call yourself. But hey, it’s more than what the perception of the word is. The word “Otaku” was first used to denote family, or house. However, further implications of the word were changed according to the people not only in the anime or manga business, but to ordinary people as well.

First would have been the lolicon community. Note the word. “Lolicon”. Who guessed this would pop up as soon as Macross came up? Add in some serial killers hell-bent for lolis, more Macross, MORE MACROSS, MORE FUCKING MACROSS, then some Gundam, and a horde of creative people who want to gratify their pitiful selves by using a term that generalizes them, and there you have it.

Sure, you’ll see a lot of anime and manga references thrown in there. But no, it still doesn’t justify calling someone who loves the stuff as an otaku. Maybe it was because of the repetitive usage and implcation. Maybe it was because the word inclined into something sort of an indoor hobby (though that’s a big shitty lie). Maybe because of Macross, and lolis, which amazingly go hand in hand on the latest season. All I know is that we need to give the moonpeople some credit for the word. Now a lot of retards call themselves by the namesake.

How does one label a person an otaku? Anime? Manga? Yeah, right. Those kind of people might’ve experienced some kind of jet lag since they’re living in some kind of screwed eon or something. True it may have been largely related to the anime and manga industry, but that’s not the case anymore. Any frequent obsession over something, anime, manga, or no, can be distinguished as an otaku nowadays. Geek over houses and architecture? You’re a house otaku. Ga-ga over figurines and nendroids? You’re a figumate otaku. Now, see the whole picture?

Unfortunately, some people still defend the term according to its most famous meaning, and the most likely of them are the people outside the moonland: the west, and some from the east. Since the rave of the word they already went out branding their stupid selves based on what’s the most typical meaning there is. I can’t argue. Moonpeople don’t, because they still see people who take anime and manga as a hobby as otakus in general. That’s that, and knowing the the word’s nature, it’s hard to reverse the meaning that’s so strongly etched to it.

I’m no exception to this ruling either, even though I don’t really brand myself as an otaku. It’s just that it’s going to be the most likely term they’d call me when they see how I do things. But I don’t care, really. It’s just the matter of perception, and that’s how this word goes in MY dictionary.

Change…

… for the better…?

Now a lot of people have been telling me to change my style of writing? Why? I don’t even understand why I have to, so what’s with the persuasion? Is it really that “aggressive”? Is it really that “offensive”? What will people think if I change my way of writing? Or to generalize: Will this change be for the better?

Actually, I’m clueless to what the answer is. I don’t even know if I’m doing anything wrong with the way I write. More like the question is if I care if I’m doing it wrong, but that’s an understatement anyway, not a question. When the idea came into me, I asked myself: Change? For what? Why? Whom? When? Where? And when I tried to enumerate the answers on those, none came out useful or convincing enough. So if I were to change, will everything go according to that change?

That’s one indefinite question there. A single change does bring out other changes, if instances are applied. But one thing’s for sure: If I change, something will be gained, something will be lost. If I change the way I write into something more “amiable” and “mild” for the audience, it’s like shunning my true self out of the spotlight I myself have made. I don’t want that. It’s useless for that, and with that stated out, I decided to rule out the change.

We should remember that there may be changes, but change alone is not tied to only one thing. There may be good changes, there may be bad changes. There are lots of changes, and I know I’m not only tied to the change of my writing style. I can change something else, like elaboration, or emphasis, etc. It may change some of the semantics, but it’s still retains a style. That’s what my type of change should be.

Right now, I’m not changing anything, and that’s final. But I’m also glad that this was brought up, especially by Mike. It’s strange that you who differs way too much in my way of writing would boldly state how you feel on the style. An amount of self-reflection was done, and something meaningful was achieved, so this post ain’t half-bad after all.

Then again, it’s still the usual thingamajig, so what gives…

Writing And “Writing”

I don’t even know why I’m writing this! Or am I even writing this?!

I’ve been told by many people on how I write. I write differently when it comes to my novels and short stories if they compare it to my blog entries. My way of talking to most people are, so they say, “spiked”, “spunky” or “aggressive”, but that doesn’t surface much when I write or talk seriously. And most people tend to confuse the two into my active and passive behaviors, mainly because I’m unstable and confusing myself. Confusing, no?

And that brings the question: How does one write? How does one “write”? What’s the difference between the two? What’s with the stupid quotation marks? Or more importantly, why do they even exist as diversified extensions of the word?

Look, I’m not trying to get smart here, nor am I one-upping you, or bitching at you, or something. I just want to state out and answer the questions, or the so-called “assumptions” by some people who comment on how I write, as well as the entirety of the ideas behind my way of writing. I hope I made that clear before I continue. No Grammar Nazis, no proofreading shit. We’re talking about my “way” of writing, and nothing else.

Now, welcome to my world, bitches… Wait, wrong iconic psychopath…

Just what is writing and “writing”? If you have such a clever wit on the play of words, you’d get my point: One is real, uniform and formal, one is not. If you look at it like you’re skimming a book, you can’t tell the difference. After all, what you write can be read, or spoken regardless of the two mentioned above. These are all pretty much similar in a way that you express yourself through words and such. But think: How does “writing” become uniform and formal? How does writing negate that by being the opposite of the definition?

Declaration And Initialization Of A Comeback

I’M BACK

I’m so such a sentimental for even bothering to post this kind of thing up…

It’s been a while. I’m finally back and kicking butt! I’m not going to talk about the previous RAEGFEST in the other side of the world since I’m in a good mood even though I don’t really have anything in mind to write. So yeah!

I think I lost some of my drive in writing. Like, I so predicted my internet would be fixed ASAP that I lost half my drivebar! But no matter. I’d rather that I take my time on this than rush things. Though the feeling of starting from scratch again kinda lets me down, it’s about time to leave that kind of self-implication and just walk the walk… AGAIN.

You might want to ask what did I do (aside from the RAEGFEST of course) while we’re down for the count. Well, otaku instincts told me to watch old anime, read old manga and novels, play old eroges, games, Touhou, and visual novels and such. Did I do any of those mentioned above? Too bad. I was too lazy to ready some posts, or draw, or write, or read, or play, or generally speaking, do anything. Unless the internet’s moving at my little castle of a room, everything halts to a standstill, and that’s that. 90% of the days passed by with R and R: Rest and Rest (those who thought of the word Recreation: you’re oh-so-predictable, hahaha).

So, what do start when everything’s set for some action again?  Well, here’s my list for now:

  1. Downloads - Utmost priority. Or rather, I’d say necessity. Backlog of my anime, doujin, games, manga, hentai (COMING SOON) and eroge needs to be reduced to some minimum at least. And of course, you guys get to be updated on some of the stuff.
  2. Bloghopping - Of course, news from other people from the blogosystem needs to be checked too. Updates from here and there that might take my interest, so this is second in command.
  3. Netplay - I get usually rusty if I don’t play for just around 2 days. What more for more than seven? Time to shake of the rust and kick butt!
  4. Works - Probably the last for now, since I’m too lazy. Can’t elaborate further. Been there, lazed that.

So basically, the regimen here looks good. Hopefully. Guess I should mosey on it now. Saturday’s going to be a day for of blast posts of yours truly aside from the things I might accomplish for today.

SO LET’S HIT IT!
