So basically, Rakan clears a bit on Godel being Eishun’s apprentice. And of course, being trained at a young age just like Death Glasses Takamichi, he must be Ala Rubra class on power levels. But Rakan doesn’t seem too worried about it, so he might know something that would knock the bastard down… or maybe not…

There’s also the invitation to the ball, with a blatant emphasis on the bounty on Ala Alba members’ heads. Of course, if Negi accepts said invitation, he should prepare. Explanations and applications on Zanmaken Nino Tachi to be filled in by Setsuna and Rakan, among others.

To end the spoilers before you can even read the damn chapter, am I the only one trying to find where Misora and the others went?

The cards have been laid down in such a way that is… so… grand… yet all so sudden. Some random government official comes in, asks you to aid him in his conquest for world domination, we suddenly get a smorgasbord of the past, present and future in a matter of minutes, all while said random government official gets all the goddamn fucking attention. Relevance? I don’t think so.

So another wild card enters the scene: the government. People have been eyeing any possible conflicts between the nations ever since the Ostia festivities began. We expected it all the more when key officials of different factions like Seras and Theo were added into the mix. And the diminishing sands of time make everything seem to want to explode at our little Negi any moment, and it did. Not to mention this is only the beginning.

From Akamatsu to Negi, the cards seem to summarize everything that Megalomesembria has to offer:

1. PRESENT: THE ORGANIZATION SEEKING TO DESTROY THE NEW WORLD – In order to return all of his students safely back to the Old World, Negi needs to venture through the old ruins of old Ostia in order to secure the remaining Return Gate. To do so, he must fight the said “organization”: Fate Averruncus and his cohorts, the “enemy” seeking to destroy the New World and everything associated in it, Negi and company included. This “enemy” states its threat in the “present”; the priority that takes utmost attention.
2. FUTURE: ENTITIES RESPONSIBLE FOR NAGI’S DISAPPEARANCE – An objective that may have been long lost in obscurity because of the different crises that surround Negi and his students, Nagi’s disappearance forces him to the point where he chose to go to the New World with reckless abandon, much to the chagrin and curiosity of his students. But the “enemies” linked to his father, be it political, magical, or megalomaniacal, are still mysteries yet to present themselves; a threat that will be tackled in the near “future”.
3. PAST: THE ONES RESPONSIBLE FOR THE TRAGEDY AT THE VILLAGE – A personal vendetta against the long-considered “enemies” that put him at odds, ultimately, with himself. A possible link to his father presents, but the unforgettable trauma that the event caused him gives Negi enough volition to even act without accordance to his father. An old ghost of the past that continues to haunt the young lad, the events and the people responsible from the “past” will make a comeback.

Going back to our random government official, there’s also the fact that Curtius Godel here is an apprentice to Eishun, which is made clear by Rakan on the lastest chapter. But think: Setsuna said the Zanmaken Nino Tachi is a technique that comes from the “central line”, meaning the main family, the Aoyamas members, and possibly their students, are the only ones capable of mastering them. Kurogane has also made clear that Eishun DOES NOT use his original surname. It may be some time before Eishun will reveal himself as an Aoyama.

Furthermore, I’d simply like to state (especially to that Kurogiku) that Zanmaken is just a regular slash with differing properties in accordance to a target, nothing else. Previous instances from other references state that critical attacks ignore defense, and even possibly evasion, the latter changing depending on instance. It just all boils down to aim. Enough said.

And lastly, Asuna, or should I say “Asuna”, is starting to have her cover blown. Negi’s sharp eyes didn’t fail to notice that she failed to nullify Godel’s attack during their confrontation with the governor-general. Well, I’d like to see if she turns coat, which makes things much more interesting. We’ll just have to see about that.

Natsumi out for dog boys, Ku’s sense of strength is out for magic boys, robots and ghosts are getting troubled with the fact that their irregularities may invalidate them from getting a Pactio, and the others are just plain flustered on the plain fact of kissing. A few unnaturally interesting flags have been opened, giving way to the following routes:

• NATSUMI – KOTARO: a Pactio between a non-Magistra Magi and a Ministra Magi candidate. Well, considering ANYONE can be a Magistra Magi as long is they meet qualifications, this is highly possible. CHAMO-KUN FACTOR: GREEN.
• CHACHAMARU – NEGI: With Chachamaru wondering if she’s valid for a Pactio, this opens another possibility. It is clearly stated that while she’s bound physically by the laws and flaws of technology, her functions and energy sources are from magic. Even so, does that mean that any magical manifestation can be considered having a soul even of the magic came from an outside source (the key-turning magic transfer)? If this is either possible or furtherly explained (magic “signature” conversion and more included), this is a great backup theory for my Fake Eva – Negi Pactio theory. CHAMO-KUN FACTOR: YELLOW.
• SAYO – NEGI: This somehow connects to Chachamaru – Negi. Chachamaru has a body, but it is questionable if she has a soul. Then, what grounds does a soul without a body have to acquire a Pactio? After all, the previous Pactios were done on souls with natural physical form (you can’t really say humans or people since Setsuna ain’t one). CHAMO-KUN FACTOR: RED.

The rest, I don’t need to explain. Ku-Fei, however, gains a special mention to this post basically because her route is now up for grabs, thanks to the “Marry the Strong Into Our Kung-Fu Clan” flag. But really, that 252 cliffhanger really left people hanging about Negi’s true past. This two week break is going to be really long again…

Also, KISS TERMINATOR NEGI IS BACK. Though it’s not Negi, really.

But the sudden twist of the upcoming chapter has broken the traditional relationship between Magistra and Ministra Magi. Why? Take a look at this!

FINALLY! THE PACTIO EVERYONE’S BEEN WAITING FOR IS HERE! The inner Miyabi in me is pleased! I mean, if it weren’t for Asuna’s cockblock before the New World arc, this one’s already pulled off. But thanks to said cockblock, Akamatsu has been given a chance to pull it off with a much more impressive grandioso! KONOSETSU BANZAIIIII!

Considering the Pactio system does not forbid having multiple contracts with multiple ministra Magi (Negi’s initial case with his students), as well as a Magistra Magi becoming a Ministra Magi under another Magistra Magi (Negi’s current case for his Pactio with Theo), the first instance of a Ministra Magi having more than one Magistra Magi finally surfaces, giving light to the fact that the system is indeed probationary. Now, the next thing we need to know is if the previous Pactio is deemed void as the latter Pactio is accepted. If yes, then I’ll have to be justified if Se-chan indeed deserves the Pactio. If no, THEN DO I NEED BE JUSTIFIED?!

Holy shit that’s some LONGASS EMPHASIS kiss for a Pactio. OM NOM NOM!

Furthermore on Pactios, I’ve had a recent debate with Kurogiku here as to how the Eva-chan scroll construct can be able to form a Pactio with Negi. Of course, Kurogiku rejected the theory flat, while I try to convince that it may be possible. Here are some semi-good possibilities:

• If Negi were to make a Pactio with Fake Eva-chan, the possibility of the Pactio getting used outside the New World (remember, Fake Eva-chan is a construct of the original’s scroll, and Akamatsu may or may not have her back on the Old World, so use may be limited) may be possible if the scroll and the real Eva-chan herself have the same “magic readings”. Kurogiku’s counter: The real and the fake ones may or will have different “readings” resulting to different Pactios with incompatible Ministra Magi. But hey, if Fake Eva-chan is Pactio-able, then Negi just needs to use his own Pactio to use whatever artifact Fake Eva-chan has. VERDICT: PLAUSIBLE.
• The scroll has a manifestation of itself, hence the Fake Eva-chan construct. If Negi is able to kiss her, then it’s possible to obtain a Pactio. Kurogiku’s counter: IT’S A FUCKING CONSTRUCT, FROM A FUCKING PIECE OF OLD, WORN-OUT PAPER. No way a magical manifestation is going to have the same essence as the original. It’s like kissing the scroll itself, which is stupid. VERDICT: BUSTED!
• The scroll has a separate manifestation apart from the paper itself, which was proven when Negi and Kotaro trained inside it before the Rakan fight while Fake Eva-chan is manifested. If that is so, then it may mean that Fake Eva-chan is a standalone entity of questionable worth. Kurogiku’s counter: Fake Eva-chan’s still a part of the scroll. Whether or not the scroll can accomodate people is not an issue. VERDICT: PLAUSIBLE.

But okay, let’s face it, fake or no, Evangeline’s not gonna kiss Negi. At least not yet.

So far so good. The rest of us are rooting for the other girls too, especially Makie and Ako (latter one really needs to be done because of all the plot prodding, FOR FUCK’S SAKE). But for now, let us relish the Yuri flag and the route that has been opened before us all. Mahou Ojou Konoka? Possible.

Oh, and we need that Kotaro-Natsumi Pactio too… (thank you Chamo for suggesting that *GJ*)

After stating the frequent artist breaks that Ken Akamatsu’s been having (seriously, that near 2-week break turned some of my hair gray), as well as the escalating GARNESS of the rather AUSUM manga counterpart of the series, some stupid and retarded bastard started jumping his gun on Negima. Considering this is the longest running Akamatsu title to date, some people just fail to compare on attention span, or they pose like they know shit until someone who’s well-versed shoves a leek up their sorry butts. Surely Moogy (catch up, Moogy-san!) and Kurogane are better people to talk to regarding this, but what he just did was just utter retarded… and was worth the lulz.

Which makes me think otherwise: This isn’t what happens when we talk about other long-running titles. Ask some random Narutard and you’ll end up getting spammed with countless numerous shit about Naruto. Same goes for Bleachtards and Luffytards. Maybe it’s because of the fanbase. Maybe it’s because of the story semantics. Maybe it’s because of its tight canon factors that knit every piece of the franchise together. But pretending to know a franchise as fragmented as Negima? That’s like trying to say you can shoot Magic Arrows from your ass, and kill some SSS-Class demon with the scent of methane and disgust for scat and goatse.

Respect. Humility. Any person who knows these terms wouldn’t prance around telling innocent people lies about something unless they’re either doing it for the lulz, or are just plain cocky and stupid. Even I am not that informed on some parts of the Negima Akamatsuverse, so I ask other people who know. It’s not being stupid, it’s just that you don’t know. However, trying to propose a theory about a manga chapter is going to be either dumb, or plausible. Reciting what you think of the title on IRC like you’re writing a tl;dr blog post is concretely dumber. TRYING TO SUBSTITUTE CONCRETE INFORMATION WITH YOUR OWN? Fucking priceless.

A story is always open-ended so long as it doesn’t draw to a close. That applies to to any material related to it. Hypothesizing a theory on what happens next after a recent chapter may be in order. It becomes a fact is when it happens. When certain events happen, we try to piece them together by material to see the canonical difference and audience impact, and see how these factors fall into place on the main story. At least that’s how the “procedures” go. But to hypothesize an already-proven fact is like trying to prove that the General Theory of Relativity is wrong. It’s like the Raw Delusion, where exposure to certain elements of a genre makes you think you are well-versed on it. You read some chapters. You watch some episodes. You play some games. You think you know stuff. You think you have spunk. You think you have something to brag about. You think you can talk to a fellow Negima fan and say “Hey, I know what happens nextblablabla!”, or prove him wrong, or answer a question with whatever shit goes on your mind. But no, that’s not the case. That’s not ALWAYS the case. Anybody should know when to spout facts and when not to. And when spouting said facts, anybody should know what to shout out, and what not to. Unless they want to make fun out of themselves by being proven wrong, that’s a fact.

I may have jumped the gun myself, but as someone who’s been avidly up-to-date with the purest material of the franchise, it felt like a bruising on the ego. It may look like some kind of simple argument, but we’re talking around three or four years of painful waiting, reading, expecting, hypothesizing, and watching. To belittle that by saying you know irrelevant lies and shit is like telling me you know better. Fuck no.

Nodoka sure pulled a nice one-upper against Fate by using that item to get his true name and aim, though that one cost Nodoka her artifact and if not for Negi’s intervention, her life. Poor Nodoka tried to figure out what happened to her petrified artifact so she can find clues about Fate, or rather, Terti. The aim wasn’t given yet, and probably, the restoration of the petrified artifact may go for another side quest later on.

Anybody care to fill in on this mystery supplemental magic?

Fate retreats on the mere presence of Rakan, Asuna, and Negi, who I don’t know what kind of supplemental magic is using. Probably Cantus Bellax? Or is it still Magica Erebea? I dunno. It’s not even explained on why he has that white aura. Fate then orders everyone to retreat, especially Tsukiyomi.

Tsukiyomi is glorious and victorious (nearly) this time around. God, that Ultimate Kappa Stripping Charm is a gift from the heavens, giving Tsukiyomi the chance to savor Shinmeiryuu boobies, if not for that Tanto artifact. She then receives Fate’s orders and retreats, leaving a half-naked Setsuna. But DAMN! That was impending hot yuri sex just now!

Then NEGIYUE ROUTE! Negi gets a glimpse of Yue (still under amnesia) while the latter is patrolling for the recent ruckus made by the former. Now I presume Negi trying to obtain Yue while getting the brunt of Ariadne’s shit. More complications! More magic! More fanservice! More GAR! More when we come back!

Kotarou confronts treant lady, treant lady summons roots of SHOTARAEP. SHOTARAEP ‘d Kotarou turns out to be a Kagebunshin (strong bunshin with density and reality like that of the original, but you know Naruto, screw this), Kotarou escapes with the others. And yes, panty-flipping is always anticipated. Quite surprising for Kotarou to do this, knowing that he can’t hit girls.

As for Asuna and Setsuna, the latter gets to face Tsukuyomi. Way too early to lay out Fate’s cards, but hey, it’s Tsukuyomi. That slut of a Shinmeiryuu will always be there for pettanko insane awesomeness, if not for being a villain.

It seems that the plan is to retreat for now. Keeping the suddenly ambushed group in one piece is top priority. But with Negi at his limit, it’s going to be too difficult. That’s where Nodoka comes in via Kotarou’s instant movement. As for the intention of what Honya’s about to do, well, that’s pretty much obvious since chap 225. She’s going to use the item to predict Fate’s movement if Fate tries to pursue them. That’s the most obvious reason I can ever think of at the moment, but if Nodoka’s got something up her sleeve aside from that, I’m free to anticipate.

We continue from Negi’s score (VIA THE PEOPLE’S ELBOW, BITCHES!) on Fate. Fate was caught off guard, and was punished again by Negi via a series of melee and magic. If not for the last Thunder Lance that was “emitted” from Magica Erebea (speaking of which, whatever happened to Cantus Bellax?), everything that was made of Fate matter would’ve been finished. Unfortunately, Fate anticipated the last move. Damn Negi made it slip when he was overcome with rage.

But another interesting turn in terms of power is Asuna’s demonstration of Magic Cancel. WIth the use of her very own named technique (it’s not Shinmeiryuu, but it’s a “sword” technique bearing the “-ken” suffix), she fuses anti-magic power to her artifact, making a single slash able to dissipate even magically-conjured pillars of stone. Setsuna was pretty much surprised with this. For her to learn a series of techniques on her own, as well as to devise moves that can utilize the power of Magic Cancel, anyone would be surprised with the sudden progress.

On the other hand, Rakan, Konoka, and Chamo remain trapped inside the infinite space conjured to entrap them while Negi and Fate duke it out. But screw that. Rakan and Chamo actually knew a way out, but was unsure of it. That is, until Rakan revealed it.

PANTY SCENT TRACKING!

Using the enemy panty’s scent (kind of a unique way to bust out…), Rakan, Konoka, and Chamo got out of the space using supersonic dimension breaking (remember that DBZ scene where Majin Buu got out of the closed training dimension whateverthenameofthatplaceis by shouting loudly to distort the dimensional rift, or do I not make any sense anyway?). It seems that Tamaki and Kotomi are capable of manipulating time and space, and they used their artifacts to distort both properties to the extent that space was multiplied infinitely by time, while time distorted space (hence the hexes). But screw that. We have another ace in the hole for this one.

SECRET TECHNIQUE: SILENT FLIPPING!

And to note that this wasn’t newly named means he’s used it in the past. He’s gotta be comrades-in-arms with Albel. HE’S GOTTA BE! Chamo’s going to have so much fun now, too!

So Negi says no, Fate attacks, but is PEOPLE’S ELBOW’D instead. Heck, I’ll forgive the loss of progress for the sake of a crucial matter. IT’S THE PEOPLE’S ELBOW THAT MATTERED! The resonating sound of its impact through the Intarwebs is well enough to satisfy.

SO YEAH, FATE ATE A PEOPLE’S ELBOW, AND EVERYONE’S GRATEFUL FOR IT.

Negi’s party is already prepared for any attacks made on them if they are to consider Fate as a formidable opponent. In this case, a counterattack is in order. At this point in time, it’s where we see whose guns draw faster bullets.

Shirabe confronts Chiu, Honya and Paru, while Kotomi and Tamaki are tasked to handle Rakan. This is to ensure nobody gets to Negi during Fate’s crucial blackmail. Will Negi give in? Will he accept? Will he refuse? We’re not just talking persons or VIPs here. We’re talking WORLDS. Fate sure is playing a dirty hand this time around. But hey, he’s ALWAYS playing the dirty hand! Who gives a damn thinking about a certain point of hesitation?

MUDADA!

Paru is getting impressive by the minute as she conjures impressive drawings in mere seconds (Inferno Aniki EX is fukken manly, I tell you), but her and Honya’s powers aren’t enough to stop Shirabe as even Paru’s ultimate defense was rendered useless. She holds true that no series is without destructive music. Flesh-ripping soundwaves are good for your ears, no? At least Kotaro’s there to kick some horned, CAVED! ass… probably…

Meanwhile, on Rakan’s side, Pactio artifacts get unleashed as the no-panties duo put up a certain “world” that looks like a ripoff from TYPE-MOON’s Reality Marbles. The artifact, called Infinite Encompassing, traps the target person in a illusionary world devoid of anything concrete save for themselves. Just think of yourself getting sucked into a black hole for life, and you’d get the picture.

Okay… so who’s running Disk Defragmenter on Megalomesembria.exe again?

Rakan doesn’t give way though. Using his artifact, The Hero With A Thousand Faces, he hurls his blades towards the enemies, only to hit nothing but illusions of boxes and hexes of pantyless crotches. I was surprised at Konoka, though. Her being able to shoot Sagitta Magica means she’s learned magic at an acceptable level, which means there may be more surprises in store for me regarding her abilities.

It’s about time we see the Yue Corps moving about. What I’m worried about is the shock Yue will have once Honya bitchslaps the memories out of her. Of course, Honya having the powers of the mind would have to mean another part or ability of her artifact being revealed. That’s going to be a must-see.
