There are times where one questions oneself about one’s own status in the world of the otaku. “Am I really an otaku?” “What makes me one?” “Is my love for the fandom really enough to consider my status?” “What can I contribute to better myself?” With these questions in mind, the Impoverished Otaku embarks on a journey to find the true self, as well as fully understand the realm that has eluded and enchanted it beyond memory or record.
The opus is mostly composed of topics, personally known to the author as “Incidents”, that question and concern certain aspects of the author’s “Gensokyo”: The otaku world. The posts will tackle its aspects of fandom, gradually moving on to its material, and finally, the individual, specifically the author masquerading with the pseudonym “The Impoverished Otaku”. It is open for any suggestions or questions regarding the otaku world, how it is seen, how it is defined, how it is lived, and how it simply is. Finally, the work’s aim is to enlighten the author, and ultimately, the society, on the world seen by a fan’s eyes.
